Portfolio Group

Music and Theatre Group

The group organises visits to musical events. It is coordinated by Norman Carpenter (01483 714634).

Visits

Visits to placed of interest are arranged by our members. These are generally of a technical nature. Recently members visited The Amberley museum. James Thompson is the visit coordinator.

Walks

Walks are arranged and are led by members. Don Andrews (01737 354801) is the coordinator. These are the current planned walks.

Wednesday 22nd May 10.15 am for 10.30 am Norah Riddington Wimbledon Common and Putney Heath (3-4 miles)
Mostly flat with some gentle inclines, no stiles. Meet at the Windmill car park on Wimbledon Common. If travelling via the A3, after Roehampton traffic lights stay in the lefthand lane, along the slip road, (do NOT go into the underpass), to circumnavigate Tibbets Corner roundabout then exit right along A219 - Wimbledon Parkside. After about 1/2 miles, on a bend, turn right into Windmill Road on Wimbledon Common. Go to the very end of the road, past the Windmill into car park. Click for map. Lunch will be at the London Scottish Golf Clubhouse (SW19 5NQ) which is off the car park. There are public toilets at the car park
Tuesday 10th September 10-15am for 10-30am Jim Thompson Wartime Prisoner-of-War Camps and Army Land in Deepcut and Frimley Green. Approximately 5 km (3.5 miles)
Meet at Frimley Green Recreation Ground (GU16 6LA) Landranger Ref SU 885 572. From M3 junction 4 head for Frimley Park Hospital. Turn right at 1st main Roundabout into Frimley High Street. Take 1st left at first roundabout (Church Rd, B3411) and about 1.5 miles to the Frimley Green Recreation Ground. Click for map.
The walk starts through Frimley Green Recreation Ground and through the estate using footpaths; crossing St Catherines Road and onto the army land -Valley Road- and then onto Frith Hill Road and Field Lane returning back to the Old Wheatsheaf PH for lunch (details nearer the time).
